Diamond Head Crater Adventure

Rating: 5/5

Who was Diamond Head Charlie? Why did Kamehameha's warriors attack Oahu? Where were the ancient heiaus, human sacrificial altars and burial caves? How did the crater receive its famous name? Enjoy an educational and fun guided hike to the 763 foot summit of the most famous crater on Earth. Incredible 360 degree views of Waikiki and the turquoise blue Pacific Ocean await you.

This exciting tour of the world famous Diamond Head Crater begins with a short introductory talk by a trained nature guide. You will learn about the fascinating volcanic creation, Hawaiian history, European discovery, early cattle ranching, and modern day military use of the "Gibraltar of the Pacific" while being escorted on a 45 minute walk that ascends to the 763' summit. Along the way our groups stop at several points to rest and photograph the crater. Walking up stairways, going into a dark 200 foot tunnel and climbing a spiral staircase imparts a sense of adventure. From the summit you'll be thrilled by the incredible 360 degrees panoramic views of Waikiki Beach, the emerald green mountains and the sparkling aquamarine water of the Pacific ocean below.

The excursion lasts approximately 3 hours and is a truly memorable experience. You will also learn important facts about Hawaii's native bird and plant species and will be presented with a Certificate of Achievement that states that you successfully made it to the famous summit of Diamond Head Crater.

PLEASE NOTE: This tour is not suitable for small children. Participants need to be at least five years old.

Great adventure!
This was our 3rd visit to Oahu and we have been on 3 Oahu Nature Tours and can't say enough great things about the company, the tours and the guides! Hiking Diamond Head was a bit more than I thought it might be but it was manageable, if not tiring on the way up! But the views were spectacular and made that staircase worth it!
Guide Justin was great, full of knowledge, entertaining and personable - a real pleasure to tour with.
I HIGHLY recommend Oahu Nature Tours to anyone wanting to tour but on a smaller more intimate tour vs the big cattle herding tours. Smaller vehicles, local, fun guides make every tour one to remember!
We've done Natural Highlights of Oahu, which was a completely fantastic way to see much of the island's famous highlights, the North Shore/Dole Plantation tour, which was fantastic as well(especially the garlic butter shrimp lunch) and now Diamond Head..
Love this tour company!!

Multiple Tours
Recently, we went on 3 tours through your company: Pearl Harbor(7) with Corey, and Diamond Head (1) and Waimea (3) with Paul Mahoney. We had such a great experience on the first two trips because of your knowledgeable and fun guides that we returned to our hotel and asked to sign up for another tour and made sure it was through your company. Corey's study of Hawaiian culture in college added a bonus to his tour. Paul's enthusiasm for Hawaii, it's people and culture as well as his knowledge of the areas we visited really enhanced his tours . We would recommend your company to our friends visiting Oahu.
