A first record for Hawaii !
On December 7, 2006, Arleone Dibben-Young discovered two white Swans at Molokai Sea Farms' fresh water ponds. After posting photographs of these birds online, they were identified as Bewick’s Swans. This is the first record of Cygnus columbianus bewickii in the Hawaiian Islands. Bewick's Swans breed in the Arctic, across northern Russia and east to the Pacific.C. C. bewickii migrates via the White Sea, Estonia, the Elbe estuary to winter in the Netherlands and the British Isles. Bewick's Swan is named after Thomas Bewick, an engraver who specialised in illustrations of birds and animals.
