All this, and breathtaking views of Oahu’s North Shore make your Hawaii shark tours complete! Shark sightings are 100% guaranteed! Shark Diving with us is the best on the island of Oahu! If you haven’t yet been to Hawaii for shark encounters or adventures, just wait until you take a Hawaii shark tour with us. You’ll want to cage dive again and again!
Shark cage diving on Hawaii is simply the most adventurous activity to add to your next Hawaiian vacation. Most say it’s the highlight of their time spent here. Shark encounters on Hawaii are safe, fun, and exhilarating. Fun for the whole family! Some have a huge fear of sharks, but once you are in the shark cage and diving with these sharks you realize how graceful these guys are.
During the voyage, you may see flying fish, Hawaiian green sea turtles, spinner dolphins, surfers, and even humpback whales migrating from Alaska during the winter months. In case of rain, the boat is equipped with rain guards, so your Hawaii shark adventure will run rain or shine.
It is a good idea to book the earliest shark cage tours Oahu available. Morning conditions are often calmer and more comfortable for passengers. If you can’t make it to a morning tour, call or email for more information about afternoon bookings.
Infants age 2 and under are free but must be added to your booking. We do not recommend tours after 9:00am for infants.
No transportation is included. If you rented a car, you may decide to stay on the North Shore to explore, enjoy the beaches, treat yourself to some shaved ice, go sky diving, or do any of the many other adventures available.
ON YOUR TOUR
Your Hawaii shark adventure starts when you arrive 30 minutes before your boat departs. At check-in, we will direct you to free parking and restrooms. There are no restrooms on the boat, so it is best to use the restrooms at the shark shack for changing into swimwear or any other needs. The shark shack is located at 66-105 Haleiwa Road in Haleiwa Small boat Harbor.
BOARDING / DEPARTURE
When the Hawaii shark tour crew has completed preparations, passengers will be asked to remove shoes and place them into a basket before boarding the boat. (The basket will remain on the boat during the tour). We find that bare feet have better traction on the boat’s surface, and want to avoid slipping, so our no-shoe policy is for your safety. Once all passengers are seated, we will depart the harbor. A crew member will give a safety briefing, explain the video option that is available, and finalize the list of cage divers to swim with sharks Hawaii. Divers will be broken into groups of one to three. For passengers who change their minds at the last minute and decide to either enter the cage or remain on board, please inform crew members at this time. If you upgrade or downgrade your tour package, we will arrange refund or additional payment. During the voyage, you may see flying fish, Hawaiian green sea turtles, spinner dolphins, surfers, and even humpback whales migrating from Alaska during the winter months. In case of rain, the boat is equipped with rain guards, so your Hawaii shark adventure will run rain or shine.
After a 15-minute voyage, the crew will harness the cage and affix it to the boat. At this time, we will distribute masks and snorkels (provided), and assign cage divers into groups. Passengers are allowed to use their own equipment, but please note that swim fins will not be needed. Listen carefully to your instructor, as this is the most dangerous part of the swim with sharks Hawaii outing. If you would like to purchase video of your dive, please tell crew members at this time, so they can arrange for video to be shot while you are in the cage. Once in the cage, you will swim with the sharks (safely!) and watch them in their natural habitat for 20 minutes. The cage has handlebars in the upper and lower sections, and is approximately 10′ x 8′ x 8′. Handlebars make it possible for guests to hold onto the cage, and are great for non-swimmers. There is also a step ladder welded onto the cage to make entry easy. Crew members will assist paraplegic, quadriplegic, or wheel chair bound passengers into and out of the cage. If you would like to exit the cage before your 20 minutes is finished, wave to the crew and they will help you back on board the boat. While swimming in the cage, you will see Galapagos and sandbar shark species, typically numbering between a few and a few dozen, and often measuring up to 12 feet long. These species are quite curious and graceful, and are typically not aggressive (while the tiger shark, which is only rarely seen, is much more aggressive). You may also see schools of fish such as tuna, barracuda, and others. If your tour happens during the winter, you may also hear whales singing nearby—and if you are lucky, they may come close enough for you to see them! After your 20-minute cage dive is finished, you will reboard the boat, and the other groups will have their chance to enter the cage.
Guests who don’t want to swim with sharks Hawaii but would rather watch from the boat can come along as boat riders. They will get to watch the sharks and cage divers from above, which is also quite impressive. This can be fun for family members who don’t want to get wet, but still want to participate in a family outing. Crew members are very knowledgeable about the sharks, and will give you lots of interesting information about them. Boat riders will also get to enjoy the beautiful coastline of the North Shore, which is quite beautiful. Once the cage divers are done, the boat will unmoor from the cage and head back toward shore. After a 15-minute voyage, we will arrive back at the harbor. If you purchased a video, you will receive it at this time. Payments will be processed (if not yet done) and souvenirs will be available for purchase. You will reclaim your shoes and head back to your hotel, either with the shuttle (if arranged) or in your own privately arranged transportation. If you rented a car, you may decided to stay on the North Shore to explore, enjoy the beaches, treat yourself to some shaved ice, go sky diving, or do any of the many other adventures available. The boat tour takes two hours total, so you will have lots of time to do other fun things with your day.
